Introduce yourself…
The Skeptix are Snotty vocals, Fish guitar, Ush bass and Chig drums.
How did the band start?
In 1977 four school friends began to discover an underground scene.Sick and tired of all the sugarcoated and manufactured pop and rock bands churning out tunes with no message, we decided it was time to put all our anger and frustration to music which truly meant something.
How did you come up with the name?
We realised very quickly that it was,and still is , unwise to believe anything you see and hear.Hence, therefore with a sceptical outlook, the Skeptix were born.
Who would you say are your influences?
The Clash, The Damned, The buzzcocks, The Dead Kennedys and anyone, anywhere that had the balls to put true feelings to a raw tune and have a go.
What was the punk scene like 1980, when the band formed?
The punk scene from '77 to '80 was a massive movement, and more a way of life than just a fashion statement.
How do you feel it has changed?
Really and truly we don't think it has changed. All the issues that were relavent then are the same now, Religion, war, Politics and corruption, greed, suppression and discrimination are as prevelant now as they were then.
What was the song writing process back then?
Sometimes the tune come before the words, other times the words before the tune.Basically ideas were jammed then formated.
Has the song writing process changed?
No, it remains the same.
As band your history is kind of confusing, what was your first single?
Routine machine on xenon records.

You guys reformed in 2001, what sparked you guys to what to reform the band?
With the Skeptix, it always has been and always will be a case of unfinished business.
What is it like working with Captain Oi! Records?
We have never had any dealings with Captain Oi. We were asked if all our vinyl releases could be formatted to CD. We agreed because we are proud that there is still an interest in our material.
Your most current release is ‘Hate and Fear’, how does that differ from your previous releases?
It doesn't other than better production and wiser musicians. Most of the material was written first time round and again all the issues that the songs tackled were still current.
