Oi! Fuckos!. We are Anti-Climax from Austin,Texas & we play fucking punk rock.. I’m Chris I play bass on TV, L.J. screams and belches, Kevin is in the lead, Shawn destroys the drums, & Coby keeps the rhythm. Collectively we aim to crush the face of humanity.
How did the band start?
Things got going for the band down on the Texas gulf coast in early 2008. Coby Shawn n Kevin are the founding members, along with the original bass player Mason. These guys transplanted to Austin some time in late 2008 & after a few shows I took over on bass. After going through two singers (Mitch then Shorty) we found our front man LJ, the perfect fit to lead our ear bleeding assault on the world. The rest is fuckin history.
How did you come up with the name?
Some would say we were born with it, others would say the original bass player Mason thought it up. Some people even believe the name was conceived by some interstellar god I think.
Who would you say are your influences?
All over the place. Anywhere from thrash/speed metal across the spectrum of punk rock. Anything that’s raw and fast n stands for something real….
What is the punk scene like in Texas?
Shit is still going strong! We’re in a big state, so kids are spread out a bit, but there is still a lot of people hungry for good punk. Here in Austin especially. There’s a lot of great local bands doing it. You can’t really complain when there are shows every week.
What is the song writing process?
It’s a collective effort.
What have you released?
Our first recording is a six song demo we did in September of 2010, then May of this year we recorded five more tracks. You can get these two recordings on one disk now, called Most of the Shits. These fuckers are made 1oo% DIY so can either pick one up at a show or we’ll mail you one.
Who are some of the bands you have done shows with?
Nobody famous. Just smaller touring bands that come through Texas. We did a couple shows with Diente Perro from Puerto Rico this year, and have a couple of dates coming up with Point Break from Calgary, Canada. Mostly our shows consist of local bands though, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Do you prefer to do shows at large venues or small clubs?
Gotta say small club.
Where have you toured?
So far we’ve only played gigs around Texas. But have no fear we will be on the road soon! So stock up on booze and get yer couches ready.
Is there a favorite band you like to do shows with?
For me personally, id have to say our brothers in Houston, Alimanas. They are a fuckin raw Mexico punk band. Really fast and charged up with all Spanish lyrics. Plus I used to be in their band, so I’m totally biased.
Is there a favorite place you like to do shows at?
House parties are the shit! Nothing like a bunch of punks getting shit-faced and slammin’ around somebody’s living room or back yard. Plus I like setting up and playing on the floor with the crowd. You know, get intimate(or inappropriate). Whatever yer into.
What do you see is the future of Anti-Climax?
World domination could defiantly be in the cards, but more than likely it will ad up a lot of black outs and embarrassing stains. Regardless we wanna keep doing this till we’re old n not worth a fuck anymore. Look out for us soon!
