Choking Susan is well what can I say, everything that you would think from the name. Monty python, slutty 50's biker movies and great music in one package. They have a great stage performance and great CDs. Blazing out of Detroit, these guys know to have fun. I got Colleen to tell their story...

Introduce yourself…
I am the great and almighty Colleen Caffeine ruler of nothingness and even less than that!!

How did the band start?
We all were hatched out of Lady GaGa's music awards egg.

How did you come up with the name?
The name of the band is from a cheesy poorly made old school VHS porno movie!

Who would you say are your influences are?
Are you threatening me? I need teepee! Cornhulio!

What is the punk scene like in Detroit?
You know that saying about if a tree falls down in a forest and no one hears it? Well Detroit is just like that... A dying falling tree that no one knows but thinks is there.

Describe the song writing process…
Well, life hurts me and I get mad then funny then even and put notes to it.

You first released 'the FBI did it', tell us about the release…
We were playing Texas and stood behind the grassy knoll where Kennedy was shot and read the words in spray paint "the FBI did it" and such it was and ever shall be... Punk is about against the grain and bring to life what is covered up or different or overlooked and just doing... I thought it was fitting... And we wrote some great songs on it... Like Leslie Large and the Stretchmarks... My bass player had a big nasty evil girlfriend at the time so I wrote a song about her that's on that CD... One of my favs of all time... Name changed to incriminate the guilty

How does the ‘Bohemian Rape’ differ?
I think Bohemian Rape Cd is a bit more maturing of the  punk... It's like we put a bib on and stopped eating with our fingers...

You then released 'Detroit Punk', tell us about the release...
We had written so many songs for the last CD and didn't want to put them all on one CD to bore that poor CD buyer so we decided to spread the boredom on a whole new cd!

Your most current release is 'Desperately Choking Susan', how does it differ from the previous releases? I'm not allowed to disclose that information due to a gag order and because I'm looking forward to our almost finished new release entitled "Cuntopia"... You know it's cold and lonely in the heart of cuntopia.

Where have you toured?
All over the USA, Canada, Spain, Ireland, England, France, Scotland....

Is there a favorite band you like to do shows with?
Yes, those who are fun, play good music and bring lots of people that like us to shows and that like to buy us drinks... Those are our favorite bands :)

Is there a favorite place you like to do shows at?
We played CBGB's before it closed.. That was a great moment for us.

What do you see is the future of Choking Susan?
I imagine we'll probably get old and die.
