Fresh from Tucson, AZ. Drizzle is a refreshing mix of poper-pop and street punk. Fighting the local metal scene. Drizzle has established themselves from the pack as great punk music. They have 4 great CDs and some touring experience that makes them a great band to come to your town. I got the band to tell their story...
Introduce Yourself...
We are the band Drizzle from Tucson, Az. Our line-up is as follows: Karl Kunz on drums and vox, Jason Behrends on bass and vox, and Tony Tellez on guitar and vox.
How did the band start?
Drizzle started on July 18, 1998 in Karl's house. Kevin Lundy( a friend R.I.P.) took Tony to Karl's house and we jammed. The music started to sound like the blues at first. Karl started to play faster on some of the songs. Kevin wasn't to into it, so he left the band. Roger Agan then played guitar for awhile. He move to Nev. Karl's friend came down from Col. Tony switch to guitar, Jason learned bass and we added Noah Olmstead on second guitar. That went on for a while then Noah moved away, and here we are. Three Punkrockers, Karl, Jason, and Tony. Drizzle!
How did you come up with the name?
The name Drizzle came from Karl and Roger on the way to get beer for practice, and it stuck. We've tried other names , but Drizzle stayed with us.
Who would you say are your influences?
Our major influeces are Ramones, Screeching Weasel, Dropkick Murphys, Johnny Cash, Elvis, NOFX, The Punkrock scene in Tucson is there, but not as big like Cal or Col.
What is the punk scene like in Arizona?
The scene is more rockabilly and heavy meatal.
Discribe the song writing process...
The writing process is very simple. Tony picks a rythem, Jason hammers a bass line, than Karl draws the beats, We make up the words while we play, and record them. We go back and keep what we like. That's it!
What have you released?
We have released 4 C.D.s. our latest is fair to Middlin. 14 minutes of Punkrock music. Some bands we had shows with are; Thriftstore Throwndown, Sugar Stains, Butthole Surfer's, Dead City Dregs,The Distortionists, The Weird Lovemakers, Rocket, Idiot box, Awful Truth, and Good Talk Russ.
Have you toured?
The only touring we've done is in Az. Looking to tour soon to Ca, Col, Nev, N.mex, and Washington.
Do you prefer small clubs or large venues?
The venues we like the best would be the big ones, we love seeing the pit on stage.
Is there a favorite band you like to do shows with?
Our favorite band to jam with is The Thriftstore Throwdown. Always a fun show.
Is there a favorite place you like to do shows at?
Our favorite place would be a little biker bar called The Territorial bar. We have a blast there.
What do you see is the future of Drizzle?
The future for Drizzle is to be the oldest Punkrock band ever alive, or until we're 60.
