He-Man Woman Haters ***New Interview***

As far as bands go, the He-man Woman Haters are great. They are out of the Oregon/Washington area and have had the chance to play shows with some great bands. They have only released a couple of demos, but they are sure to release some great stuff. I got Troy to tell their story...

Introduce yourself…
I'm Troy.

How did the band start?
I started this band in 1995 with a bunch of changes of the members and the band breaking up every other show we finally broke up around 1998.

How did you come up with the name?
When the band first started it seemed like most of us where having women problems. We were all little rascal fans and someone said how about calling our band HE-MAN WOMAN HATERS we all agreed.

Who would you say are your influences?
For influences The Jimmies, The Derelicts, The Misfits, Sludgeworth, Screeching Weasel, The Queers

What is the punk scene like in Oregon?
There are some really good bands in Portland and surrounding areas check out http://www.facebook.com/pages/Punk-You-Records/146330185425873 about half the bands on the comp. are from the N.W. But it's hit and miss on getting a audience. You could get 10 people to show up one week and 50 to a 100 the next.

Describe the song writing process...
Well I usually just pick up the accoustic and play and come up with a song.

What have you released?
We recorded an eight song demo in 1997 but nothing was done with it one cassette was given to each of the band members. We broke up soon after. We recorded 6 songs in 2000 which I just give away at shows nothing was ever released on a label.

Who are some of the bands you have done shows with?
We have played shows with The Jimmies, The Parasites, The Mentors and Wanna-bes.

Have you toured?
No we have not toured yet.

Is there a favorite band you like to do shows with?
Yeah I really like to play shows with a band called Lastshot from Longview, Washington they are a bunch of really great guys.

Is there a favorite place you like to do shows at?
As far as Venues I like to play at Grumpys tavern in Longview, Washington. Longview being our hometown we get the largest crowd at Grumpys.

Do you see is the future of the He-man Woman Haters?
As far as the future we are trying out a new drummer this weekend and I hope to tour soon.
