No More Saints are a great punk band from California. The band has played a bunch of good shows and have recently released a new album. The band puts on a great live show. I got Jim to tell their story...
Introduce yourself…
Jim Alfaro - Guitarist for No More Saints
How did the band start?
Ken ( the singer ) and I was in Punk Bands back in the Late 80's. I was in Against the Grain - He was inVirulence - we have been friends for years. We noticed that some of our friends that were also in bands back then were starting to get together and Jam as new bands. We heard it, liked it & thought we could add to the mix. So we got other friends involved with the project - a few left & now this is the current Line up: Myself, Ken, El PAtron on Drums, Buck Authority on Guitar, and Derb on Bass. All are original except for Derb - we've gone through like 3 Bass Players.
How did you come up with the name?
The Name came from our one of our first songs "You're No Saint" - we couldn't agree on a name, but that one finally stuck.
Who would you say are your influences?
Influences: All the old school stuff that got us into punk in the first place: 80's style hardcore like Black Flag, Adolescents, Bad Religion, The Freeze, - Stuff that was first put on Vinyl.
What is the punk scene like in California?
The california Punk scene - is LAZY. People don't want to drive too far for gigs. I don't know if it's convenience or they are just too scared to get a 502. San Clemente has a Very Good scene - Coconuts & Doheny Saloon are in our hood & whenever any good bands come in town we usually get on the bill. if not us then there are some killer other local bands as well -all from south Orange county: Piss Pops, Otherside, Uncivil, Thing w/ 2 heads, Raw Helmet, Saint Monday Shakes, Jive ass Nobodies - we have a good thing here.
Describe the song writing process...
The Music is written by either myself or Buck, or in most cases Both of us will have a riff and put it together - change it up until it sounds right. Then we all usually jam it out and Ken may want a change in chorus or whatever -but we all flow pretty easy & we all pretty much agree on what sounds right and what doesn't. There aren't any ego's or Music nazis in the band we all are free to add our riffs and make it our own.
Your first release was the 'Dogrun' demo, tell us about the demo...
the Demo was our first trip to the Studio as a band. I think we were together like 6 months when we went into Eddie Casillas' ( from Voodoo glow skulls ) Studio in Riverside CA. It was a good experience & we were eager to get recorded & be heard. You can download all 6 songs for FREE on our Reverb Nation Page. http://www.reverbnation.com/nomoresaints
Tell us about the current lineup...
the Current line up is
Jim Alfaro - Guitar
Ken Pucci - Vocals
Buck Authority -Guitar
El Patron - Drums
Derb -Bass
all are original line up -except fro Derb he has been with us for about 7 months now. Like I said he's our 4th Bass player.
What else have you released?
Other Releases: Well Our NEW Release CONSUME just came out this week. 16 songs available on CD or Colored Vinyl. We did this thing called Kickstarter where we could Pre-sell the Album to raise funds to Make it. we ended up raising $5,000 in 90 days - enough to Record & release everything. truly a DIY thing - we are stoked to have such great friends / fans that believed in us & wanted us to release a full length album. You can order it on our website now http://www.nomoresaints.com/ . This is our ONLY release other than the original 6 song demo.
Who are some of the bands you have done shows with?
other bands we have done shows with: The Freeze, TSOL, Decry, Don't NO, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Defects, Smogtown, Broken Bottles, American Jihad, Plus we played this years punk rock picnic with CroMags, Detours, etc etc..
Do you prefer to do shows at large venues or small clubs?
We don't care if the place is Large or Small - as long as there are People & ENERGY !! we dig a sweaty crowded Pit going off in front of our stage.
Have you toured?
Toured : no, not yet. But maybe with the release of this Album we will start to get some people wanting to book us and we can go from there. Gas is Expensive so we at least gotta keep the Tank full.
Is there a favorite band you like to do shows with?
Favorite band to do shows with: We like the DEFECTS they are good friends of ours - plus they are the best 3 man band around -I recommend you give them a listen !
Is there a favorite place you like to do shows at?
Favorite Place: Our home turf - COCONUTS, we fill that place up -we try to limit how often we play there -so we don't burn our local following out. But it's filled with all of our friends 300-400 people & it's got good sound & Mike Moldanado the promoter is a good friend of ours. It's a good time whenever we play there.
Do you see is the future of No More Saints?
The Future: Who Knows, only time will tell -the music industry is stagnant & we intend to do our part to bring Punk back to it's roots , not take ourselves too seriously, have fun, and get people back into the pit.
How can people contact the band?
You can contact us on Facebook

we also have a myspace- but does anyone even go on there now with all their freaken pop ups and shit ?
Final Words: ACT don't RE-ACT !!
I think I was out of order here n there , but there ya go - is this going to print or for a website or what ? let me know & we can link it on our site. I appreciate the interest in our band !!
