On the Job ***New Interview***

Yes folks, no need to ask. I finally got On the Job. Thank you for all the emails and messages. Rockin' out of Sweden On the Job are one of the best Oi! bands out there. They have a great stage show and really know how to rock. These guys are in the same vein as Bad Co. Project. and one band you wanna see live. They have a lot of great recordings out and they had done shows with some of the legends of Oi! I got the band to tell their story...

Introduce yourself…
Well.. we're a Rock'n'Oi! outfit from Karlskrona, Sweden. The foundations with this bastard is the devoted love to Rock'n'Roll and Punk in all it's form.

How did the band start?
Everything started in the beginning of 2009. At this time me (Aron) and Masse were playing together in another band called Sinners Since Birth. We had been recording some songs in Chris studio, so we knew him before we started On The Job.
He asked us if we would like to record some of his songs and we werent late to say yes. One thing went to another and we decided to start a band so we could play the songs live.
Me (Aron) and Masse decided to put Sinners Since Birth on ice and only play with On The Job.
Chris asked his old friend Ola if he would like to play bass in the band and he went on the Rock'n'Oi! train. After a couple of months, just when we hitted the studio to record our first full-length album Ola left the band due lack of time.
Then Hannes joined the band instead and we were able to finish recording the album. Our second guitarist Rille didn't join the band until december 2009. He went with us to play a show in Brighton with the Last Resort. Masse had broke his arm and werent able to play guitar so Rille were our stand-in guitarist at this time. We thought that everything went so pretty damn well that we decided to let him be one of the yobs.

How did you come up with the name?
We wanted a bandname that werent to cliché, and we thought that On The Job were a bandname that was easy to remember. The name does have a meaning, but what it means you'll have to find out by your self. Hehe.
A little hint is that people from the U.K might know what it means.

Who would you say are your influences?
Everything from Rock'n'Roll like Rose Tattoo to pure and simple Oi! like The Last Resort, Blitz and so on. We do have many influences but we're trying to find our own sound, and I hope that we had succeed with that.

What is the punk scene like in Sweden?
It's really good actually. The country is small but we do have Oi! and Punk gigs quite often. New bands are popping up all the time. The scene in Sweden is alive and kicking so to speak.

Describe the song writing process...
Someone comes with an idea and then we arrange the song together. Sometimes we have actually been making a song in the studio and then we have to rehearsal it together because we didnt remember how to play it. Haha.

You have released 'Bag full or Brew', tell us about the release...
The record contains 13 songs, every song in english. It's released on vinyl in 3 different colors and on digipak-CD.
The difference between our debut-album 'Rock'N'Oi!' and 'A Bag Full Of Brew' is that 'A Bag Full Of Brew' is so much better, haha.
Seriously - We have spent more time on this one and we're quite happy with the result.
We exaggerated the things that we like in music on this album. Drenched it in beer, made sure it had enough catchy guitars and plenty of sing-a-long parts. With our notorious drinking habits in mind, it's a good statement for what On The Job is all about.
We want the listeners to feel that they can join in on the fun when listening to this album. If somebody do that, we have succeeded!

What else have you released?
The first thing we did release were a promo CD that we gave away to people and promoters. It contains 4 songs and one of the songs that's called 'Piss On Your Grave' have never been released on a record. Maybe we'll record it once again and release it on a upcoming album, who knows..
Other records that have been released are:
Rock'N'Oi! (2009) - Debut full-length album
7" split with Rust (2009)
7" split with Carl Templars side project Stamford Bridge (2010)
A Bag Full Of Brew (2011)
We have also been featured on some Oi! compilations.

Who are some of the bands you have done shows with?
The Last Resort, Cock Sparrer, Scarface, Booze & Glory, Control, The Warriors, Bad Co. Project, Mad Sin, Anti-Nowhere League, Deadline, Argy Bargy.. to name a few.
This is including the festivals we have been playing on.

Have you toured?
Yes. We have been doing two mini-tours in Germany. One in 2009 and one tour with Booze & Glory in the end of 2010. Great memories!

Do you prefer small clubs or large venues?
Smaller venues do always have a better atmosphere and you do have a better contact with the audience. So I think that we prefer smaller clubs.
But it's always a rush to play at larger venues because you have a larger audience and the sound use to be better.

Is there a favorite band you like to do shows with?
Hmm.. if Blitz still were playing, that would be a number one choice!
To do a show with The Business would also be a dream coming true.

Is there a favorite place you like to do shows at?
It's always something special to do a show in our hometown, Karlskrona. We have only been doing two shows here, but they were amazing!

Do you see is the future of On the Job?
Record some new songs and hopefully play alot of live shows. There's nothing better than playing a live-set and then have a huge amount of pints with the audience afterwards.
