the Lonely Revolts are an awesome punk band out of Salinas, CA. They have a great live set and have only played one show so far. They are also currently working on an EP and setting up a tour. I got Josh and Lupe to tell their story...
Why, hello I name is josh. Me name be Lupe. Hello.
How did the band start?
The band started out of an idea Lupe came up with out of an urgent call for some soul wrecking punk rock.
How did you come up with the name?
The name came about by feeling caught in the crossfire between two aspects of world views.
Who would you say are your influences?
We're influenced by motorhead, the swingin utters, the clash, Johnny cash, and Crashdog.
What is the punk scene like in Salinas, CA?
There is remnant of punk rock in our area that grows and dies every once in awhile. We do have a couple of local punk heroes that keep the flame going by putting on shows and getting people involved. Right this very second is as good a time for punk rock as it's been in this little area of Cali, in probably forever.
Describe the song writing process...
Josh: a lot of the writing process comes to me while am bored at work lol.
Lupe: For some reason watching Fox news really inspires me to write. I dunno.
What have you released?
We are in the process finding a place to record our up and coming EP.
Who are some of the bands you have done shows with?
We have shared the stage so far with the Way, Absolved, the Hoax, and the Rekoning. (Truth be told we've only played 1 show as of this writing hehe).
Do you prefer to do shows at large venues or small clubs?
Anybody would want to play large venues, but there is something about playing smaller ones, it makes things more intimate.
Have you toured?
We have not toured yet, but that's in the works, stay tuned!
Is there a favorite band you like to do shows with?
Josh: ummm I don’t know I would like to open for a lot of bands that aren't around anymore haha.
Lupe: Currently Thew Way are a great band we love to play with, always puts us to shame. Absolved are the most fun loving group-a-guys I've ever met!
Is there a favorite place you like to do shows at?
The downtown brew in San Luis Obispo has the best sound!
What do you see is the future of the Lonely Revolts?
We see TLR going as far as our little feet can carry us!
