Los Creepers ***New Interview***

Los Creepers are an awesome punk band that have been doing it since '96. They have an amazing live set and have shared the stage with some of the biggest names in punk. They also have a handful of great releases. I got the band to tell their story...

Whose in the band?
Javi Lopez / Vocals
Lx ALvarez / Guitar
Herman Ibarra / Drums
Jorge Rosas / Guitars
John Hernandez / Bass

How did the band start?
LX: the band started when me and herman started messing around ,playing johnny Cash and social D Songs.Ive Always Loved the 50's and punk,So the new stuff was a mixture of both.We called it Psychobilly, Cause there wasn't alot of other bands Playin that style in 96'.

Who would you say are your influences?
Javier : My influences are in no particular order Social Distortion, Sick of it all, Pennywise, Agnostic Front, the Bruisers, Blood for Blood, the Meteors, Slayer.

What is the punk scene like in California?
Jorge : Punk rock is a great type of music because we'll play to high school kids one day, and to people in their 40s and 50s the next day. The music resonates with people from all different walks of life. California has a great punk rock history it's one of the places where the music really set its course. Los Creepers can play a punk rock show one day and a psychobilly show the next day, the possibilities to reach different audiences seem endless.

Describe the song writing process...
Jorge :There's no rhyme or reason to it. Our last song was written while we were recording a different song. We were waiting for the engineer and just started playing while we while they were setting the recording equipment up.
Its one of our best new songs. I don't think any two songs were ever written the exact same way.

What have you released?
LX : we Have Several Albums out "Creeper Stomp" Punk Rock Since 96", "City Streets" Our Newest E.p "Onward To Anihilation" Will be out Jan 2012.

Who are some of the bands you have done shows with?
We've been very Lucky to have shared the stage with many great bands
Lx : Rancid, Stray Cats, Manic Hispanic, Casualties, Bad Religion, Germs, Adolescents, Horrorpops, Slackers plus we've played many Warped tours, and Hootenanny Festivals.

Do you prefer small clubs or large venues?
Jorge : We've played many shows big and small, but I have to say that I'm more comfortable in a small to medium-size gig.
It's interesting how the band gets so used to being close together on small stages that on a larger stage it seems too big and we get disconnected. My ideal place to play would be a medium sized club with a lot of people, that seems to be the comfort zone.

What do you see is the future of Los Creepers?
More Recording, more touring ,and alot more fun.2012 is the bands 16th year together. So Hopefully we'll make  it to at least 30. The older we've gotten, the faster our music has become. Pretty Proud of that.

How can people contact the band?
www.loscreepers.net  or on Facebook as well.
