Record Reviews

the Putdown – This is for Steve EP
The year has been incredible for releases and the Putdown do not come up short. This is a great EP. A lot power-pop and pop punk influence reminds me a lot early Everclear/SNFU stuff and maybe a little bit of Lagwagon. Very poppy stuff is you have a pop punk vein that needs to get filled. 5 songs with great riffs and catchy drum solos.  Very mid-ninties punk music.

Are you a fan of classic surf punk? This is some amazing stuff if you are into that style of punk. Very intense guitar styles and drum solos. The bass solos are just insane. This is great stuff with a few covers, which include a great version of the theme from the TV show the Munsters. Really great stuff.

Force Fed - This War EP
These guys bring to the table some awesome street-punk/oi! This is some really awesome stuff. These guys bring a mix of Street punk and Cali hardcore that you don't get from most bands. I like the style and the production, this is some really good stuff. If you like Section 242 and bands in that vein you will love this EP.

Rejected Youth - Fuck the Consent
Amazing street punk/oi!/hardcore album, Amazing choruses. Kind of a mix between One Way System and Agnostic Front with a taste of Murphys Law. I got about two songs into the album and I was hooked. Really liked 'Take it Back'. The album is has a ton of great tracks including 'On the Wrong Track', 'Hey You', 'What Are You Gonna Do', 'Black Army w/ Mark of the Unseen', etc. These are all amazing songs. This is just a great album. Don't got it, buy it.

Mutagen - Scream In To Nowhere
This is amazing hardcore thrash from Finland. Yes all the songs are in finnish, but they fuckin' rock and kind of remind me of Cro-mags and later DRI. Its great stuff with some amazing guitar riffs and the drums are just all over the map. This is really great stuff.

V/A - Music to Bleed to vol. 1
This is an amazing comp. I really like the mix bands. Got some hardcore, some d-beat and a little thrash. Really great sounds from each band, too. Global Parasite, Burnt Cross, Decreto 77, Dirty Protest, Stab Your Back, etc etc. This is a huge comp and the songs are just amazing. Great choices, great bands.
Piss N' Blood - Treason
Wow! I am impressed. It's not often you hear a great mix of '77 style UK punk and '80s California style hardcore in one band. I like the sound of all three song and the bonus live version of the title track. This is great stuff. I did however notice the singer pronouces some of the lyrics just like Jonny Lyden. Not sure if it was intended. Great stuff all around. https://www.facebook.com/PissNBlood?ref=ts

Ziplock - Nothing To Prove EP
What happened to good old hardcore punk? It's not dead and has been  given a second chance. Ziplock brings back the feel and the intensity that is needed to get hardcore out of the ICU and back into a fresh new band. Very '80s style old-school punk that is refreshing and brings me back to my roots. This UK band reminds me of Dillinger 4/GBH mash-up. Hard driving tunes with great lyrics and a taste of solid street-punk/oi! Very good stuff! http://www.reverbnation.com/ziplockpunk

Absolved - This One Goes to Seven EP
I enjoy a punk band that has different influences. I like the fact this EP has a bunch of different punk styles to it. They have few power-po songs and then they mix it up. They have a hardcore song and a decent cover of 'Halloween' by the Misfits. Again it is great to see people mix it, so the album does not sound like 20 or some versions of the same song. I like it and you will too. I promiss. Great stuff from Ventura, CA. http://www.reverbnation.com/absolved

Zombie Fight - Broke for Tomorrow Volume 1 EP
Solid NYC hardcore. Bold guitar riffs and intense double-bass on the drum kit. Great hardcore from Zombie Fight. The vocals stay constant throughout the EP, with additional vocals in the chants of the coruses. The drummer is just insane on this EP, one the best performances for a hardcore band. Great stuff all around. This is one that really wanna add to your collection. http://zombiefight.bandcamp.com/album/broke-for-tomorrow-volume-1

Lyrics stay very solid throughout the album.  This album contains great punk anthems and is soon to a classic.  If you don’t got it, you better get it. http://www.bloodshotanddilated.com/

Half Raptor – Have You Seen This Cat? E.P.
Great pop-power in the vein of Social Distortion/NOFX. You can really hear a Mike Ness/Fat Mike influence in the album. Very poppy, but yet very much great punk rock. A bit of emo, a  bit of fun. Great stuff all around though. This a great E.P. strong, but not too face-paced, just like a good cup of java with just the right amount of cream and sugar. Four tracks of good stuff. http://halfraptor.bandcamp.com/

45 Adapters – Not One More Day EP
Charging out of Brooklyn, these guys are a great street-punk/oi! band and this EP is bound to be a classic. The reason I say that is simple, the title track of the album rings true to any band that publishes through ASCAP or BMI. Truth be told not one artist has gotten a dime from the lawsuits, so it makes my blood boil when someone says that pirates are stilling from bands. This is the first and not the last an artist has really made a statement about this. This is a great EP containing some songs. It should be in your record collection. Truly a soon to be classic. http://45adapters.com/

Die Pretty – Battle Over Brooklyn
Steady, smooth and female fronted pop-punk from New York. The band keeps from sounding to indie by having a mix of progressive chords ala Lookout Records. This EP sounds like a mix of Save Ferris, NOFX and Lagwagon. Brings me back to bands like the Wynonna Riders and the Hi-Fives with a female singer. Great stuff for fans of poppy pop-punk ala Lookout Records in the ’90s. http://www.dieprettymusic.com/intro.cfm

Set Me Free - Only One Flag EP
Very NYHC/Straight Edge influenced hardcore from Italy. These guys must have the entire Revelation Records catalog from the '90s as a consistant influence in their music. I really heard a Youth of Today/Gorilla Biscuits/Judge sound in the entire EP. 7 songs of straight to the point hardcore with Hare Krishna over-tones. Very true to NYHC of the '90s. http://setmefreehc.bandcamp.com/album/only-one-flag

No More Saints – Consume
Old-school, hell yeah! Hardcore, hell, yeah! No More Saints are a great new band out of California. They are older guys with a new school stage show. Great raw hardcore that’s not too fast, but just right. Great non-dark metal sound out of So. Cal. Tracks include songs from their demo like ‘La Familia’ and ‘You’re No Saint’. With some new stuff like ‘We Must Consume’. Great stuff. Great addition to your mp3 player. http://www.facebook.com/nomoresaints

The sound is vintage 90's New York hardcore reminds me older stuff from straight-edge with a higher quality recording to it. These guys have mastered a great sound. 5 songs of pure old-school hardcore gold. http://youngturks.bandcamp.com/album/halfhearted
the Beldings EP
Very Chicago/Ramones influenced pop-punk. Someone likes the lyrics of Screeching Weasel and the guitar style of the Queers. This is great stuff if you are a fan of the Ramones or Screeching Weasel or the Queers. I could even go as far as to say that it sounds like stuff that was released by either one of the bands themselves before Lookout or any other label got to them. http://www.myspace.com/thebeldings

Great stuff. 4 songs from a free download to feed your hunger for new tunes. http://themandroids.bandcamp.com/album/technical-demonstration

InCiders - the Demo EP
Hard to believe this is a UK punk band. This some intense very US influenced Punk Rock. Holy shit! Listing to this Demo I am having flashbacks to Black Flag/Circle Jerks/Gang Green era punk. This is great stuff, kind of a British version of the band Filth from the '90s. Wow! these guys schooled in the '80s US punk/'80s British crust. the Wynona Riders - J.D. Salinger
Every now and again you hear a record that stays true to it's theme. This chaotic and random collection of songs actually stays true to the theme of J.D. Salinger, the point being that the aim was to make fun of the punk anti-rebellion which the record does stay to true to that. Very poppy power-pop that stays true to the Lookout! records brand. Great stuff. Includes a cover of 'Kids in America' and 'the Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle'. http://www.myspace.com/thewynonariders

Less Than Jake - Pezcore
This is a great take on new school ska music. These album mixes pop-punk and ska in a way that it works and does not seem very watered down. It is actually really great stuff. I actually enjoyed listening to the whole album. Very poppy yet, yet funny ska music. All around great stuff. http://www.lessthanjake.com/

Bollweevils - Heavyweight
the Bollweevils are Great poper-pop/hardcore. This is a great punk album. EVen includes a cover of 'Pay to Cum'. I really like this disc. Great mix of pop/power-pop with a hardcore feel. These guys bring old school and new school together to play some damn good punk. http://www.myspace.com/bollweevils

Swingin' Utters - Street of San Francisco
This has to be one of best and classic Oi! Albums to come out of the US. These guys are really amazing and they produce some great stuff. This is not the first time this album has been considered for this type of honor. This is a very working class album, if fact the band never quit their jobs after releasing a handful of great albums and many sucessful tours. They are still a working class punk band. The song itself is very street punk with a California sound. Very catchy and melodic tunes and tackling a lot of working class issues. Really great stuff. http://swinginutters.com/

Citizen Fish - Wider than a Postcard
If you love the Subhumans, you will love Citizen Fish. All the great stuff you loved about the Subhumans with a few lineup changes here, SKA and there and some vegan overtones. This is an amazing album. Great mix of SKA and of course the Subhumans. This album is political and fun. Great, great, album. I could listen to it at least 3 or 4 times a day. http://www.citizenfish.com/

Sloppy Seconds - Knock Yer Block Off
Very poppy power-pop with a strong '70s style punk influence. The music is as a poppy as you can get with strong mid-western US influence. The songs remind me a lot of the Queers/Schreeching Weasel. They have a garage rock/surf flavor added as well which tries to mask the Ramones influence. It's really great stuff actually. http://www.myspace.com/kingsofjunkrock

Lunachicks - Jerk of All Trades
Fast driving power-pop from New York all girl punk band the Lunachicks. This album is great. These gals mix a few different styles to produce a great sound. The band has a lot of old school influences from New York and it shows. Awesome album that brings back a time in the '70s when the music was tough, loud and had a pop sound with a great mix of melodic choruses. One of the better albums from this group. http://www.myspace.com/lunachicks

Voodoo Glow Skulls - Firme
Still one of the premiere ska bands out of Riverside, CA. Intense new school ska with a nice brass section. The band plays both English and Spanish traditional music mixed with a solid sound and biligual lyrics. The music has insane time changes that add new school and power-pop to the mix. This is a great album with a cover of the oldies classic 'Charlie Brown'. The album also has my favorite Voodoo song 'Thift Shop Junkie'. http://www.voodooglowskulls.com/

Jello Biafra & Mojo Nixon - Prairie Home Invasion
Another in a series of mash ups feature Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys. This one features Mojo Nixon, known for his crazy country style punk. This album actually features a list of famous country and bible hymns in a way that only Jello could explain them. Funny stuff really, not that I am a fan of country music, but at the same time if you had older parents the irony is there. If you really wanna stick it to the christian right-wing, this is the best way to do. http://www.alternativetentacles.com/

Yuppicide - Shinebox
Wow! Great hardcore for NYC, this is by far a hardcore classic. Yuppicide brings it when it comes to great tunes. The vocals are intense and come at you in various forms of distortion at times. The accent is instense and works well. Insane lyrics, guitar hook and bass solos all in a rapid fire machine and that speaks to you in ways that give you chills. This is by far one of the most classic albums out of DOn Fury's studio. These guys go out of there way to play a great show as well. Great stuff and at times it's just plain brilliant how everything comes together for these guys. http://www.facebook.com/pages/YUPPICIDE/353441848821
the Real McKenzies – Clash of the Tartans
What happens when you mix traditional Scotish music and street punk/oi. You get a great album for a great band. This is by far on of the best albums I’ve heard in a while. Great stuff, definately a classic punk record. All the way thru to the cover of ‘Scot Wha’ Ha’e’. Great stuff. If you don’t have this in you collection you are missing out on some great punk. http://www.realmckenzies.com/Welcome.html

Tilt - Til It Kills
Great poppy/blues style power-pop from Oakland, CA. Tilt is a female front band and they remind me of the Seattle band the Gits (just saying). Great very catchy lyrics with an awesome bass player. The rhythm is great throughout the album with really great basslines and guitar riffs. Great stuff from a great/more poppy punk band. http://www.myspace.com/tiltfanclub

Youth of Today - Disengage 7"
Yeah, it's straight edge hardcore, but it fuckin' rocks. 3 great song, one 7". Still one of my favorite 7" records, not sure why, but it just rocks. Vocals are scratchy and with an accent, solid drums, solid guitar and bass. All around a great 7". http://www.myspace.com/youthoftodayhc

Gorilla Biscuits - Gorilla Biscuits
Yes, more straight edge hardcore, but it is really great stuff. Solid vocals, solid rhythm great stuff. 12 songs of hardcore magic. Tones like 'Hold Your Ground', 'Big Mouth', 'No Reason Why'. A classic hardcore album. Something worth adding to your music collection and MP3 player. http://www.myspace.com/gorillabiscuits

Judge - Bring it Down
What can you say that had not been said about this album. Judge was at one point in the '90s a very well known band for their straight edge lyrics and their hardcore sound with a bit of '80s metal influence. The band was at the forefront of the movement at one time. Great hardcore stuff, yes the lyrics are very straight edge and to a point could be described as militant. Great stuff though, I like the feel and the overall mix of various east coast sounds. This is a classic NYHC album. Great stuff. http://www.myspace.com/judgenyc

If You Can See Through it... It Ain't Coffee Compilation 7"
Great mix of songs from some east bay punk bands. The best thing about these kind of comps is that you get just enough of a band to get you hooked without that feeling that you just heard a bunch of bands that sound the same. 4 great bands 2 very poppy bands and two bands more know for their West Coast hardcore. Contains a song from Fuel, Thumper, Monsula and Filth. Great stuff.

Screeching Weasel – Boogadaboogadaboogada
Screeching Weasel is a classic Ramones meets the midwest power-pop scene. This is a great album. It was really hard to say, but this is still the best album from a band that keeps making good albums. Fast-paced power-pop with a classic Ramones feel on the vocals. Ben Weasel and crew for some reason were straight on the mark with this one. From ‘Dingbat’ to ‘Hey Suburbia’ this is a great punk album. If you don’t got it sucks to be you. http://www.screechingweasel.com/

Blatz - Cheaper than the Beer
Great pop-punk/power-pop from Berkeley, CA. Solid three-chord guitar and bass riffs. Male and Female vocals with fun lyrics. These guys like to make fun of everything. 5 songs of punk politics. Lyrics poke at the straight-edge scene, NYHC scene, white pride scene, etc. Fun and classic Cali punk-rock.

Fugazi – Repeater + 3 Songs
Graduating from Minor Threat, Ian Mckaye has put together the ultimate powerhouse of music in Fugazi. Repeater is their most popular album and will always be a punk classic album. The band put a lot into this album. Starting tha album off slow and then it gets going with the title track. Repeater is a very power song. The album really gets going with Merchandise and then starts to top of Shut the Door and Song #1. This is the album fuck you in your face punk album. http://www.dischord.com/band/fugazi

MDC - Millions of Dead Cops
Still the best CD I have ever owned when I wanna listen to hardcore. Great stuff. Very east-coast style hardcore/power-pop. I like the political edge and the lyrics ability to speak to you in a style that only punk can. Really great simple songs that go straight to the heart. This is by far a classic punk album and will always remain that way. Props to the band for putting together a flawless album that includes the crowd favorite 'John Wayne Was a Nazi'. http://www.myspace.com/mdc

V/A Skinhead Revolt
Classic mix of old school SKA. This is some damn classic stuff from all over the world. If you like the feel of old school SKA, I mean were talking damn old school stuff, this is the album for you. A lot of great songs and great artists. If you lack a taste of the old school style in your music collection this album will fill your soul.

the Offspring – the Offspring
Great album the first time out for the offspring. The Offspring are a great band in thier own right. This is just by far an incredible album for a first release. Powerful fast-paced power-pop from So. Cal. These album a little more political then future releases, a same really. This is a classic only in the sense that no other punk band has tackled the issues presented in the album in such a way that it makes light of the fact that nobody really cares. Great stuff for your collection and mp3 player. http://www.offspring.com/

Dayglo Abortions - Out of the Womb
These guys never stop going out of their way to make you laugh at yourself and everything around you. These is some seriously awesome stuff. Straight of an island just off the coast of BC, Canada  these guys just pound great albums. Very much the standard of great 80s west coast hardcore with a highly form sense of humor. Whenevr you are feeling down and out, put in this album and blast off into hardcore fulleshness. Really great stuff here. http://www.myspace.com/officialdaygloabortions
Poison Idea – Pick Your King E.P.
Mean ass hardcore punk from Portland, OR. Fast, short and to the point. No guitar solos, no long hair, just great hardcore. These guys are brutal, but good stuff. They don’t make punk rock like this anymore and if they did people just wouldn’t get it. Great stuff and a great album. If you miss the days when hardcore was a show and not just a genre then this is the album for you. Thee Hippy Killer and Pig Champion created a great package with this album/E.P. Not to be missed or confussed with anything but in-yer-face punk music. Add this  to your collection today and then play it in your MP3 player til your ears bleed. http://www.myspace.com/blankblackoutvacant
Gang Green - Another Wasted Night EP
Awesome stuff from Gang Green, this is definitely a punk rock rock classic. Tracks include 'Alcohol', 'Voices Carry' (cover), 'Skate to Hell', the title track and many more. Face-paced hardcore/power-pop from Boston. These guys blow up any stage that they get on and this album is great stuff. It makes you wanna get up and get moving great stuff here from a great punk band. This is a classic EP and is really hard to find, but if you get it grab it and don't let go. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Gang-Green/41127347443

Dillinger 4 – Midwestern Songs Of The Americas
From Minneapolis, MN the Dillinger are the mid-west kings of power-pop/skate punk. This guys put together a high-energy album that is unsurpassed by most power-pop bands out there. This album has been featured in some many skateboarding videos I had to include it a classic punk record. Great stuff, appears not be good enough for video games, but not like these guys run a fancy California punk label. This however is in an awesome album and does belong in your collection. Put in your mp3 player as the instant caffeine playlist. If you get bored you figure that the album is MSOTA. http://www.angelfire.com/mn/dillingerfour/
CH3 – Rejected
I think the title says it all. This is all the stuff that was rejected from the 2 albums before this. This is not their best stuff at all. Actually sounds a lot like well, 80s metal music. In life as in music as you grow, sometimes you can’t please everyone. This album was the nail in the coffin for the band and they broke for a time. Not the most important album in punk history, but historical all the same. http://www.chthree.com/

the Freeze – Land of the Lost
Great power-pop from a great band. This is a classic album from the second generation of punk. The Freeze are still playing some great shows, bus this is a great album. This has got to be their best. I still remember when I purchased this record, I was so excited to take it home. This is one album that you’ll play over and over. Great stuff to add to your collection and hopefully your MP3 player. http://www.myspace.com/rabidreaction

Dead Kennedys – Give Convenience Or Give Death
Straight out of San Francisco and considered the top of the ’70s punk bands, the Dead Kennedys perfected what we view as pop-punk punk music. This is the best album from one of the best punk bands ever. It was a tough choice, but this album by far has the best work from the Dead Kennedys. ‘Too Drunk To Fuck’, ‘California Uber Alles’, ‘Holiday in Cambodia’, ‘Pull My Strings’, ‘Short Songs’, etc. This is by far some of the best every put out by a punk band let alone the DKs. With this in your collection you can’t go wrong. Add to your collection, add to your mp3. These songs never get old. Like a good cheese they age well. http://www.deadkennedys.com/

Operation Ivy – Energy
Very catchy, very short, very good. I think this album has all their songs on one disc. This is one of the first punk CDs I ever purchased (didn’t think they were going to last and if you remember they were like $25 to buy one). Great CD though, allowed me to retire the Hetic EP 7″. Great stuff from California, this guys went on to become Rancid. Still a classic SKA CD and still very popular. Tracks include ‘Knowledge’, ‘Sound System’, ‘Unity’, etc. This is one for the collection. Classic stuff. http://musicbrainz.org/artist/931e1d1f-6b2f-4ff8-9f70-aa537210cd46

Agent Orange - Living In Darkness
Good old fasioned old school punk. Living in Darkness is a goddamned in your face, punk rock classic. Great tunes all around and some surf covers. These guys are great and they really enjoyed recording the album and it shows. The album includes the classic songs 'Bloodstains' and is still worth a listen. I really enjoyed the album and so will your MP3 player. This is one worth having. http://www.agentorange.net/

Vice Squad - No Cause for Concern
Vice Squad are another great classic punk band that has been around for a long time. The band fell apart for a time and then regrouped to release some great stuff. This album was the first released by the band and is an instant classic. Songs like 'Last Rockers', 'Latex Love' and 'Summer Fashion' are just a few of the classic Gems on the album. This album has a UK82 sound with a great guitar riffs and that match the vocal style of the singer Beki. Great stuff all around from a classic punk band. This is one album that needs to be part of any great punk collection. http://www.vicesquad.co.uk/
Vandals – Peace Thru Vandalism / When in Rome Do as The Vandals
As an album this is by far the greatest punk album out in the world. This album has it all Rebellion, Humor and Politics. Punk is not just a political or fashion statement it is about having fun. This is a fun album. One of the greatest songs on the album is Anarchy Burger, it is just pure rebellion and chaos. ‘Anarchy Burger, Hold the government’. This album is full of classic songs like Urban Struggle, Pirates Life, Mohawk Town, etc. As a band they out did themselves putting this album together. Most of the songs are about fitting in when no one else would except you. One of great themes of any good punk scene is exceptance. We don’t see that alot anywhere. The album covers alot of great subjects, but does it in such a way that you laugh through the whole thing. This is a great album and if you don’t know it completely by heart by now, you need to add this one to your collection. http://www.vandals.com/Vandals/Home/Home.html
Bad Religion – Suffer
This was another tough choice. How do you decide which is the best album by a punk band that only has good songs? Suffer stands out as the best work by Bad Religion. With tracks ‘Do What You Want’, ‘You Are (The Government)’, ‘Land of Competition’, this is by far their best recorded work ever. Bad Religion out of the OC have established themselves as the long time kings of the power-pop genre. They have also established a long career as one of the oldest bands out there. This is one album you need. If you don’t have it get it. Put on your mp3 player and take note... http://www.badreligion.com/
Charged G.B.H. – City Baby Attacked By Rats
This was one of the first punk albums that I purchased. Still one of the greatest punk albums every released. These guys produced a great album. From the first track ‘Time Bomb’ all the way to the last ‘Bell End Bop’ this is none stop punk. This is by far the best of the best of punk rock. I don’t think there is ever a time in my life I have not played a track off this album. The very top and bottom of all my playlists. This is a classic and better be in your collection and your MP3. Great, Great, Great stuff. http://gbhuk.com/

D.I. – Team Goon
Classic California punk from a great band. This is a classic punk album. Great power-pop from one of the second generation punk bands out of California. This album is a great album even includes ‘Richard Hung Himself’ which is performed live in a classic punk movie ‘Suburbia’. Not sure why this album does not see more listings on the net for top punk albums. This was and always will be classic punk rock. If it is not in your MP3 player or record collection, make your way down to local CD shack and grab it. http://www.myspace.com/diunderground

Dayglo Abortions – Feed Us Fetus
Over the years, punk bands come and go, but this album goes through your ears like a branding iron and every lyric will stay in your head for life. Not afraid to make fun of anything, the Dayglo’s have covered it all in one album. Canadian culture, America culture, mattresscide, etc. Coming out of Canada this album is fun, funny and at times is on the edge of what we call normal or reasonable. The album is as sarcastic as you can get. Classic titles like ‘Arrghh Fuck Kill’ and ‘Ronald McRaygun’, ‘Dogfarts’, etc. This is the one album that if you don’t have you need. Defining rebellion with every note played on this album. http://www.myspace.com/officialdaygloabortions
Suicidal Tendencies - S/t
This is a bad-ass classic punk release for southern California. It is also a classic from a band that is hard to define. This is actually a 1983 release and has been consider one of the classics of hardcore music. As band there is a mix of different influences and it really shows. This album contains such classics as 'I Saw Your Mommy...', 'Subliminal' and the always classic 'Institutionalized' with the classic line 'All I wanted was a pepsi and she wouldn't give it to me...'. Fuckin awesome album. If you don't got it, fucking get it. http://www.suicidaltendencies.com/suicidal/

Fear – The Record
From Minneapolis via L.A. Fear is another great punk band. This album is awesome. Low production and it winds through like most Minnesota drivers, sloppy and all over the map. Fear is a great band based out of L.A., but don’t plan on seeing them live any time soon. Lee, the ringleader of the band is now a country singer. Classic punk record. Songs include ‘I Don’t Care About you’, ‘I Love Living in the City’, ‘Let’s Have a War’, etc. Add this insanity to your record collect today. http://www.myspace.com/fearmusic

Black Flag – Loose Nut
This is by far the best album that Henry Rollins has ever been associated with. The album is also one of the best punk albums ever released. Black Flag used this album to introduce sex, love and relationships as a subject of a punk songs. California punk bands of this era had only touched on these things and only a few English punk bands attempted to touch this subjects before going going new-wave. This album trashed the 80′s social single scene and attacked love and relationships in the Reagan-era. This album was a turning point in the punk rock genre. It is also by far the only album to deserve to be called emo-sarcasm. Powerful, yet fun and extremely punk-rock. This is a must have for anyone who does not have it. The album starts out with the title track, then ‘Bastard in Love’. The third track ‘Annihilate This Week’ is a classic punk track. The album keeps going, ‘Best One Yet’, ‘Modern Man’, ‘This is good’, etc. All around the album itself is a classic. http://www.myspace.com/blackflag80shardcore
Major Accident - Clockwork Heroes
Great '77 style UK82 punk from these guys. The band like a few others of their time follow a  Clockwork Orange theme which is in the artwork. The music itself is timeless and classic punk rock. A great mix of Addicts/Ramones style punk music with simple chords and just a few complex basslines. The lyrics are simple and the choruses are addictive. Great stuff to feed your head throughout the day and makes a good secrest stash on any MP3 player. Great stuff all around. http://www.myspace.com/majoraccidentdroog

T.S.O.L. - Dance With Me
T.S.O.L. are awesome and this is by far there best lineup. Great stuff, funny and actually a lot different from their first EP. This is a classic Punk album from a great band. These album is truly awesome and it contains the classic track 'Code Blue'. Really great stuff, poppy, some would say a little emo, I actually believe it is very sarcastic. I still consider it a great album. http://www.myspace.com/tsol

the Germs – (MIA) The Complete Anthology
The Germs are by far one of the most insane punk bands out there. With Crash Derby at the helm the band went on to record some of the greatest songs in punk history. Known coming out on stage covered in Peanut Butter and various other food products, Crash write some classic songs like ‘Lexicon Devil’ and ‘Media Blitz’. This album contains almost all of their work. Great punk. Classic punk music. This is one album that really needs to be in your collection and on your MP3. http://www.myspace.com/germsreturn

V/A - Punk and Disorderly 1
Awesome compilation of tunes. Really a great mix of punk bands from GBH to Vice Squad, this compilation has it all. I actually really enjoyed all 16 songs. I was actually surprised by the track list. Great stuff from Dead Kennedys, Abrasive Wheels, Red Alert, etc. Very awesome comp!! This is plain awesome.

7 Seconds - The Crew
They came from Reno, NV. They played hardcore. They became punk rock legends. This is by far the best of 7 Seconds. Some people say they got too poppy, but this album will always stay as a record of some of the greatest hardcore/power-punk out there. This is great stuff! Fuck Yeah. One of the greatest punk records to be released. Great classic punk rock songs and classic lyrics. Abrasive Wheels – When The Punks Go Marching In
Another classic punk album. These guys are one of the best street-punk/oi! bands around. They have been doing for years and they will continue. This is a great album with a lot of classic punk tracks. You never really hear a lot about these guys, but their stage show says it all. Very great band, awesome album. This is one album that should be in everyones music collection and mp3 player. http://www.abrasivepunk.com/

The Ejected – Spirit Of Rebellion
Coming out of England, is one of the best punk CDs, anyone can own. The Ejected are and always will be one of the legendary punk bands out there. This album has some great tracks on it. ‘Army Song’, ‘Greenham Women’, ‘Dirty Schoolgirls’, ‘Stop, Look and Listen’, I could go on. This is great street-punk/oi! with some great ska. I loved every track on the disc. This is a must for your mp3 player. If don’t have it you are missing out on a great album. http://www.myspace.com/theejected

Oi! Oi! That's Yer Lot Compilation
Wow! This comp is not impressive by the names of the bands on it, but the actual tracks themselves. These are the best songs of the street-punk/oi! movement. Fuckin awesome. Highlights include Frankie and the Fames 'On Yer Bike', the Gonads 'Getting Pissed', the Business 'Real Enemy', etc. FUckin awesome comp. By far the top of any music collection.

Evil Conduct – Kings Of Kings
This is an anthem album, pure and simple. No other band has ever been about to create an album that had this many anthems. Evil Conduct is dirty, gritty and street-punk/oi! to the max. This album is by far the ultimate skinhead anthem album. From ‘Beat of the Street’, ‘Wanna Know the Reason’, ‘Dying for a Fag’, ‘Evil Conduct’, ‘King of Kings’, ‘Remember ’81', all the way to last note, pure skinhead anthems. This is one of the best albums to ever be recorded. Raw, to the point oi!. If you don’t have this album get it. Add to your mp3 player, your ears will thank you later. http://www.myspace.com/oievilconduct
Circle Jerks - Wild in the Streets
Wow! You better believe it boyo! This is as classic as west coast 80s hardcore gets. Fresh from Black Flag, Keith Morris is bad ass and he is not holding anything back. This is intense and awesome stuff from whole band. Really great stuff all around. From the album title track 'Wild in the Streets' to 'Put a Little Love in Your Heart'. Classic punk athems to get the teenage rebel out of your system. http://www.myspace.com/circlejerx

Redskins - Neither Washington Nor Moscow
This is the first album from the founders of the red skinhead movement. The band actually broke up  shortly after the release of this album. Known for wearing skinhead attair the band actually have a very 70/80s old school/new wave sound. The mix street-punk lyrics with blues style music that is very Madness influenced. I like it. Classic 80s punk. http://www.myspace.com/58212400

the Burial - A Day On The Town
Awesome Redskin punk! This album is very much in the vein of 80's style street-punk/oi!/ska has a very Redskin style feel. The Clash meets Madness feel to it. Really, really great stuff. I like the guitar and horns it creates a very blues like feel to the music. Great working class lyrics. This is something worth adding to your collection. http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Burial/169307099747949

Blaggers Ita - New Kids on the Blag
Wow! Classic Redskin street-punk/oi! from Blaggers ITA. This is just amazing stuff. Very vintage 80's punk with an amazing style. A great mix of 80s punk with ska and very little street punk/oi! This is some great stuff and should be a great part of your music library. I completely enjoyed it. It actually is a rare item, due to the fact it was a tape given to people that attended a release party. Really great stuff. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Blaggers-ITA/167631396618294

Redskins - Rarities
More classic 80s punk from a steller band. These guys again are famous for starting the Redskin movement. All the tracks on here are B-sides and otherwise discounted recordings. One or two live tracks, but otherwise better versions of some of the A-sides. Again, though great classic blues/80s punk with a ska feel. I get the feeling that maybe they influenced some more recent releases as this reminds me of a few newer bands, but very Madness in style. http://www.myspace.com/58212400

Zeros - Don't Push Us Around
Really awesome '77 punk music from the Zeros. This is actually a classic album. Released back in the day, when punk was new and fresh. The Zeros were known for a famous concert where they shared the stage with the Germs and the Sex Pistols. The story then turned tragic as the LAPD shut down all the venues that the band played at. Great, great album that has stood the test of time. http://www.myspace.com/wildweekend77

AntiSocial – Battle Scarred Skinheads
Classic Punk rock! AntiSocial is one of the greats of the UK82 era. This album does a great job of bringing some of the best work to light. The band itself are a shining example of classic streetpunk/oi!. Alot of great work on this album. Tracks include classics like ‘Official Hooligan’, ‘Battle Scared Skinheads’ and a bunch more. Great stuff all around from  a classic punk band. This is one album that needs to be added to anyone’s collection. http://www.myspace.com/oiantisocialoi

Criminal Class – 25 to Life
25 to life is one of the great punk albums of all time. Bursting with anger and rebellion the album gets you hooked on the first track and it does not let up. The highlight of the album is ‘Anti-social’. Just when you think the album could not get any better the track sneaks up on you. ‘Anti-social’ is a great punk anthem, pure punk rock with great guitar hooks. Then to top off the album the band included ‘Just Another Lie’ as a bonus track. Another great punk anthem. Overall this album is a punk classic. http://www.myspace.com/criminalclass1979

Beastie Boys – Polly Wog Stew E.P.
This was kind of a shocker when I first found this EP 20 years ago. This was released in ’82 and it still serves as one of the greatest hardcore EPs  ever released. The Beastie Boys have since moved on to become street rappers, but the memory will still stand. Hard, fun and fast, this is an awesome addition to your mp3 player or vinyl machine. Great stuff from NYC and a landmark for the NYHC community. I still give a few spins a week. Nobody will have ever be able to make hardcore like they did back them, but it is fun to see people try. Get it and enjoy as much as possible. http://beastieboys.com/
Bad Manners – Heavy Petting
Buster Bloodvessel and crew know how to make some ska. This is a classic ska album. Imported from the UK, this is one of the best albums for the band and for ska in general. This album is more music and less ska, but great stuff all around. Starts out with ‘Don’t Knock the Baldheads’ and keeps going thru several of best tracks for ska. The records are very deep with horns and Buster’s voice. Great, Great Album. Get it or miss out. http://www.myspace.com/badmannersofficial

Attak - the Early Days
This is an amazing album! I am so lucky to have found this and we are all lucky to Gary Bushell who found these guys and added them to No Future! This is just classic street-punk from the UK. Great lyrics, steady music, just fuckin' amazing. The quality of the sound is pretty low, but it was a cassette, so I can't complain. Tracks like 'Blue Patrol', 'Marchin' Boots', etc. This is by far my new favorite album. Great stuff and thanks to the person who had no return address for sending it.

Cock Sparrer – Shock Troops
As a band Cock Sparrer are one of the greatest Oi! Bands in the history of the movement. I got Colin to talk about the album during the interview with him. Funny how the album was kind of meant as a recording that was paid for by a label, but the band knew they would not like it. It was the ultimate punk recording. ‘We’ll make it, but you will not like it, so piss off’. The album itself has many punk classics. ‘England Belongs to Me’ is a great example of a classic punk song. Political, anti-patriotic and a great chorus. ‘Take ‘em All’ yet another punk classic. ‘We’re Coming Back’ great solid punk theme song. The album is full of classics. http://www.sparrer.fsworld.co.uk/
the Defects – Defective Breakdown
This is a classic punk album. The Defects are an awesome old school punk band from Belfast, Northern Ireland. This album was the first full length album and is still by far a classic and legendary punk album of all times. Classic old school punk with great lyrics and guitar riffs. Includes a cover of ‘Suspicious Minds’. This is an album that if you do not have in your punk collection, you really need to get it. http://www.reverbnation.com/thedefects

the Sound of Oi! Compilation
Classic fuckin' street-punk/oi! here. This is one of the best street-punk/oi! comps out of the UK with classic punk musicians. COckney Rejects, Section 5, the Business, Cock Sparrer, etc. Really awesome punk here. This is one of the 5 classic Oi! complilations that started the whole skinhead scene in the UK. Really great stuff here. I cannot say enough about this comp. It's a fuckin classic.

Carry On Oi! Compilation
When you wanna talk about punk compilations look no further then this album. This is probably one of the most classic compilations when you think about streetpunk/oi! Although it is very hard to find, this is and always will be one of the most classic punk records. Classic tracks include ‘Suburban Rebels’ by the Business, ‘East End Kids’ by the Ejected, ‘Nation On Fire’ by Blitz, ‘King of the Jungle’ by the Last Resort, ‘Evil’ by 4-Skins, etc. Great album if you can find it. Once you do, it will be the gem of your vinyl collection.

the Ruts – the Crack
The Ruts have defined the oi/ska movement over and over again throughout the album. A great sound from a great band. This is by far one of the greatest album in oi!/ska history. This is one of the first punk albums I have ever owned and still the highlight of my music collection. The album starts off with ‘Babylon’s Burning’ and keeps going all the way to the last track with just great tunes. By far a classic punk album. This is as classic as it gets. Great album, just can’t say it enough. If it is not in your MP3 player ask yourself why. http://www.myspace.com/therutsofficialpage
Minor Threat – Complete Discography
I know what your thinking if he says one bad thing about this album, he ain’t a punk. So I am not going to this is a great album anyways. Minor Threat were the first straight-edge band, but they were one hell of a good hardcore band and they play some great shit. This is one of the best punk albums out there. Minor Threat will always be one of the best punk bands. With Ian McKaye at the helm these guys bring some great tunes and changed the course of the punk scene. This album should make you question everything. http://www.dischord.com/band/minor-threat
V/A - Oi! the Chartbusters Vol 2

UK Subs - Tomorrows Girls
This is one of three classic punk singles from one of the most classic UK punk bands. UK Subs are just amazing and if you get a chance to see them live it will be life changing. This is a 7" single that contacts three awesome tracks. 'Tomorrows Girls', 'Scum of the Earth' and 'Telephone Number'. This is an awesome 7" and a great punk classic. Really does belong in your music collection. http://www.uksubs.co.uk/

Iron Cross – Skin Head Glory E.P.
You can’t get more classic than this. The best of the best in street punk/oi!. I can’t say that you can get any better than this E.P. when it comes to Sab Grey’s lyrics and ablity to capture the old school and what it was like when skins and punks weren’t cool. Alot of people have given the band a bad rep over the years. This album or the band have nothing to do with the right wing or it’s abuse of the name skinhead. The first track ‘Crucified for Your Sins’ is the reason for the logo of traditional skins with the skinhead on the cross.  Great EP to add to your collect if you can find it, good luck, try vinylonthe.net or Doctor Strange. http://www.myspace.com/ironcrosstheband
Bad Brains – Bad Brains
The Bad Brains are by far one of the most influential punk bands of all time. As a band they mix hardcore and reggae in an intense powerhouse of punk. The album itself is one of the greatest albums produced. It starts out with a great track and keeps going. http://www.badbrains.com/

Zero Boys - Vicious Circle
This is the album that established the Zero Boys as a band that was not going to stop, known for the famous yellow cover this is by far some mind-blowing stuff. The sound is a polished Ramones/Black Flag/Hardcore sound from Indiana. This is great stuff I mean great stuff, short to the point music with great lyrics, pounding drums and insane guitar riffs. This is not bad for a first record. Originally released in '82. I found this really hard to find, whereas other might find this easier. This is for sure a classic punk album. http://www.zeroboys.net/

S.O.D. Speak English Or Die
S.O.D. knows thrash. When it comes to thrash this album is second only to the ‘Rotten’ LP by D.R.I. Billy Milano knows thrash and this is the shit. The album itself is kind of satire of politics in the 80s. Reminds me a lot of D.R.I. and the Beastie Boys early works. With tracks like ‘Speak English or Die’, ‘Milk’, ‘Pussy Whipped’, ‘The Ballad of Jimi Henfrix’, etc, you really can’t go wrong. Hard, fast, funny. All the elements of a great old fashion punk fuckin rock thrash album. If you don’t have this in your collection or at least saved on your mp3 player, your not into hardcore punk. http://www.sgt-d.com/

D.R.I. - the Rotten LP
This is probably the most influential hardcore album ever written or at least produced. The songs are short, hard and socially charged. These guys really bring it on the album, making it a classic for all times. Probably the best part of my music collection. This is the what I can say is without any doubt, my most listen album that I have ever owned. Ironically, these guys are originally from Texas. I just fuckin love it.
the Genocides - Honey, This Ain't No Romance 7"
Classic UK82 punk from the Uk. The singer has been in other bands and it shows. This is actually a great single. The A side 'Honey, This Ain't No Romance' is just an amazing song. Can't fight this feeling it might have influenced Jack Grishom of TSOL. This band is known for being dark and gothy, but having great punk riffs. This is just very classic good stuff. Buy it!
Attak – Zombies
Classic old school from the No Future record label this is by far some of the best classic punk out there. This LP is great.  the Fits - the Last Laugh EP
A powerful blast of old-school punk. These guys were an amazing punk band for their time. They bring quality lyrics and a great style that is classic to the '70s and '80s. They actually had a great run. This EP is one of their best releases. Tracks include 'Last laugh', 'Different Way' and 'Nothing to Prove'. Extremely classic punk for the time. I can see how these guys were a big influence on West Coast Hardcore in the '80s. http://www.captainoi.com/

the Satellites - Human Being 7"
Very gothic sounding UK punk. The band mixes classic punk with keyboards and female backing on the on the title track to give a very gothic overtone. The B side is just classic UK82 with backing keyboard. Actually sounds very new wave meets the boys. Just to ad time they threw a very short version of keyboard first solo song at the end of the 7". Classic punk!
Mau Maus - No Concern EP
Fuckin' classic UK hardcore. Great UK82 styled hardcore from these guys. These is just classic shit from 1982. OMG! as the kids say. Great pounding short punk from the UK. Fucking classic!
Dr. Know - Plug-In Jesus
A fucking amazing LP from these punk legends out of LA. Intense hardcore, often called Nardcore (Oxnard, CA hardcore movement). What makes this band so legendary if the face that the singer is a kid star from the TV show, the Courtship of Eddie's Father. This album, features some tha bands best tracks and also some of the more scarcastic lyrics. Really stuff all in all. If you are trying to put together some amazing tracks for you MP3 player this is one album you can't be witout. Really amazing stuff. http://www.myspace.com/thisisdrknow

The Runaways – Self-Titled
Classic debut album from the Runaways. Is it punk, prove it isn’t. Great stuff from the all girl band then went thru hell to get their music out. This album contains some really great tunes in including the first track the classic ‘Cherry Bomb’. Still one of the best albums to date. Can’t say that about a lot of the bands for the their time out. Great album to add to your music collection. http://therunaways.com/

Ramones – Rocket To Russia
Oh shit! This is the bomb mostlikely the best album the Ramones have ever released, great stuff. This is one album that belongs in anybodys record collection. By far the best of the best for the Ramones. Tracks like ‘Creatin Hop’, ‘We’re a Happy Family’, ‘Sheena a Punkrocker’, ‘Teenage Lobotomy’, etc. This album destroyed pop music when it came out and I still remember seeing these guys play the album live at the CBGB. Wow gave me goosebumps playing the entire album again. If you don’t got this album you ain’t a punk. http://ramonesworld.com/

4-Skins – Clockwork Skinhead
Wow! A great package put together by a great band. Has a lot of great hits like ‘Clockwork Skinhead’, ‘One Law for Them’, ‘Evil’, ‘A.C.A.B.’, ‘Plastic Gangsters’, etc. This is an all around great album with tons of great Skinhead anthems. This is one of the best bands ever. If you don’t have it in your collection, you don’t have a collection. http://the4skins.tripod.com/

the Vibrators - Pure Mania
Probably one of the most classic punk albums ever released. This is the album that gave SLF their name. Classic '70s punk style punk rock with no gimmics. This album features classic punk songs like 'Yeah Yeah Yeah' and 'Stiff Little Fingers'. This is amazing album. Still by far one of the most classic punk albums released. I can never not want to hear a track off this album. If you don't have it, get it, get it now! http://www.thevibrators.com/

X-Ray Spex – Germ Free Adolescents
Poly Styrene(R.I.P.) was a great musician and artist. This is by far the best of the best of the X-Ray Spex. A great album with tons of great tracks and the finish it off ‘Bondage Up Yours’. A lot of questions come to mind when you think of street punk and saxophones, but this is the exception to the rule. Really great stuff it is rather unfortunate that she lost her battle to Cancer. This is definitely a classic punk and should be in your punk collection and mp3 player. http://www.x-rayspex.com/

Peter And The Test Tube Babies – Pissed And Proud
How many people remember where they were when they heard ‘Banned From the Pubs’ or ‘Maniac’ for the first time. This is the album that started it all.As far as I am concerned this is the best of the best for the band. Peter Bywaters is at the helm and he has made every song both fun and funny. This is a great album and well worth a few laughs. It also has a great take on the culture of the late ’70s and early ’80s. Through the years Peter and the guys are one of the longest running punk bands and every album is as funny as it is a pundent. This is great album and belongs in your collection and your mp3 player. http://www.testtubebabies.co.uk/
Anti-Nowhere League – We are the League…
This the best of the best for the Anti-Nowhere League. Great stuff really one of the first punk albums that I have ever owned. Still by far one of the best. The music is dirty, volger and straight to the point blunt. Really, Really great stuff. The band itself is one of the first street-punk/oi! bands and it shows. This album starts of with ‘We Are the League’ and keeps going all the way to ‘SO What’. The cd comes with live versions. This is a classic without a doubt and some of th best punk out there. If don’t already add this to your collection and MP3 player. http://www.antinowhereleague.com/
